Does not sound like a Windows XP issue. Sounds like a hardware issue.

See if the brightness (in the system BIOS or using the keyboard method of
changing the brightness, etc) is maxed out. You will have to refer to your
manual.

Not an XP issue, but very likely the LCD inverter or CCFL lamp went bad,
contact the mfg for repair.

Hi,
Thanks for you mail. I tried to put the brightness up but it's up to the
max, evrything weokrs perfectly, i just cant see. i had it before that the
screen would go very dark for jus a moment, but now its dark the whole time.

Now that you have mentioned it used to just go dark for a moment then back
to normal - sounds eevn more like hardware failure. If under warranty -
contact the manufacturer. If not under warranty - found a reliable repair
shop (avoid big-shops like Best Buy, Circuit City, etc - unless you just
have no other choice - IMHO.)

If it's not under warranty you'll be eating sandwiches for a while.

The old 'repair cost diet plan'. One of the best in existence - and not
limited to computers.

Try an external monitor, if it works your trouble is in the screen
assembly. I have 2 laptops like that.
