I like Download Accelerator Plus with the spyware removed by
SpybotS&D. However the latest version is getting too big for my old
m/c so is there a download accelerator as good? The thing that makes
DAP good for me is it's ability to find other, faster download sites.
So that's an essential!

Star Downloader does not find other download sites well but it does make
multiple connections with the website you are downloading from. I
haven't found software that is as good as DAP at finding mirrors yet.

Use DAP 5.3 .. Available on their website .. small and simple .. I couldn't
find a freeware with similar capabilities.

==== you might try " Download Plus " , free and open source...
http://www.downloadplus.tk/ =======

On me way :o)
Tried it a couple of times.
It works more or less as well as 'the rest' ie without any visible
mirror checking, which is what this thread is about.
I am using Firefox I know, but the right-click option only seems to
work if DL+ is already open?
It is an early beta so we will have to wait to see if it catches up.
