Had this in the discussion newsgroup, but it doesn't seem to get many posts
in there.

I know a lot of people don't like the ads but I've always found it to be the
best download manager for me. I notice they have gone to version 7 and I
wondered if it was any worse than version 5 for ads, i.e. have they added
any
other nasties in there?

Also what are peoples' favourite Download Manager with resume, that works on
WindowsXP with Avant Browser? Just uninstalled Fresh Download as it didn't
seem to integrate at all with Avant.

Come on, don't be shy! :-)

Not to worry, tried Download Express and it seems to integrate fine.

Another reply to my own message sorry. :-)

Just did a 66.1MB download. It got to 99% and then got an error message
from DE. I clicked resume and it has gone back to downloading the file from
the start even though the file on the desktop says it is 66MB. Argghhhhhh
If memory serves I had a similar problem with an earlier version. Looks
like it's back to DAP 5.3

I found I could not get DAP7 to run on my PC. v5.3 used to work well.
I don't use any now as with Firebird browser there is a built in manager
with resume. It's fast enough for me, but then I can sit and watch a
defrag :o)

Cheers Jim. I've gone back to DAP 5.3. I had hoped that by now I would
have more success with the proper freeware ones but I don't seem to get on
well with them. Dap has always worked great though so I guess I'll just
stick with it.

Have you tried LeechGet yet?
http://www.leechget.net/en/
LeechGet handles redirects better than any other I've tried. All downloads
have been complete.

I watch it for a while and then "catch myself on." Then watch it a bit
more.
:-)

hehe, I just like seeing how close I've come to screwed the hard drive ;o)
(do my programming/web dev on this one, so it tends to need defragging
almost daily....lol)

Let he (or she) who has not watched a defrag cast the first stone.
