Help.

I apparently do not have SwenA infection. I ran Symantec's SWENA
removal tool several times and run NAV and F-Prot up to date versions
every day. But I am inundated with the "Microsoft Update" from other
web sites.
This means for each "Microsoft update" and "undeliverable email"
I get a NAV Alert which requires me to click Quarantine, Delete, OK
and Finish. That is 300 mouse clicks for each infected email.
What could I do, I have allready set the option to silently try to fix
then delete.

If I am not infected with SWENA then why am I getting all of the
unable to deliver email emails??

Help
Thanks
Jim

We had the same problem in our network. The
undeliverable messsage thing (as explained by Symantec)
is that after an infected email is sent to your computer
the virus apparently uses your IP address to send
messages out of your Contacts list to all names that you
have stored in there. First step is to delete your
entire contacts list although I was also advised by
symantec that the virus can use your sent, inbox, and
deleted items to send viruses to anyone listed. We had to
get a router and a new firewall to get rid of our
problem.....not much help sorry. You could write a rule
in the rules wizard to delete/block all emails that
contain the wording "Microsoft Update" that would help
some. Also try downloading mailwasher (freeware) it
cleans all your messages before they make it to your
inbox, and you have the option to blacklist, delete or
bounce all emails that contain certain attributes. Not to
mention you wont have to quarentine anything as the
infected message will never make it to outlook so norton
will never see it. We are using mail washer and not only
does it help cut down on the viruses but it helps to
eliminate spam. Hope this helps some.
