IIRC, all I needed was "system tray" and"explorer" in older versions of windows. I have like sixty something processes or something running under Vista, WTF?

I am currently running only 48 processes in Windows 7 beta. But 738 Threads are running (or whatever they do).

Probably. Windows 98 as well. But even in XP I could get by with less than a dozen.
Hell, you don't even need explorer in XP.

Actually, smart people can shut off a fair number of them with no
impact on their ability to use Vista. Perhaps you should do some more
learning.
