hi,
in the last few days my cursor/pointer has been changing from
hour glass to pointer at 3 second intervals; i thought it would
stop after a few reboots, and especially considering i am in the
middle of rebooting and running anti-malaware programs for
an unrelated problem.
so, does anyone have any thoughts on how to rid myself of this
very annoying infliction?
is it a 'mouse' related problem?
i guess the other point is why it started in the first place.

You say you are "running anti-malaware". I would run a strong
anti-virus program first and then go for the spyware programs. I have
seen this problem before where it was caused by a virus.
Just a small thought from a small person.

Hi,
I have a 'strong anti-virus program', and I also have 'adaware,
spybot search and destroy, hijack this, shredder ' and etc.
If you have seen this problem before, could you elaborate as to
a solution? Can you name the 'virus'?
While I appreciate your time in posting, you havent actually said
anything or pointed toward the solution..... and lets face it, people
only come to n/g's for solutions instead of problems.

Shot in the dark:
If the hour glass is appearing I would think something is running
in the background. Have you tried opening the task manager and watching
the processes to see if anything is consistently popping up at the 3
second interval? Make sure to sort by CPU usage.

thanks for the idea; i have a utility called 'atm' which shows all
running process's and hex address's.... but even though all sorts of
different process's show up and change, none seem to be in time
with the cursor changing.
another thing too, i realised last night that it is only doing it in win98,
i have a dual boot system.
still, there has to be a solution anyway.

thanks

Sorry, to have pissed you off. No flame war here. I thought I gave
some advice even if it wasn't what you wanted to hear.
I will back out now and let some other newbies help you out.

Apology accepted.

Was never advice I was looking for, but rather a Solution.
