Daily connectivity outages

Every night, just about 8 PM PST, one of our computers loses internet
connectivity. The other three computers on the network seem to work just
fine, so it's not the ISP, modem, or proxy server. Rebooting restores
connectivity for about 30 seconds, then it dies again. I can ping
127.0.0.1, but not the proxy server, 198.162.0.1.

The affected machine is Windows 98. AVG virus scans come up blank, although
we know that this system got hit pretty bad with spyware-- we thought all
that got removed. My best guess is that there is some trojan thing running
a hidden process in the background, but netstat and ipconfig both look good.

Tried unchecking the "let Windows manage power use" box under the Device
Manager for the NIC.

Any ideas? Or, any ideas on what kind of Google search might zero in on
this type of problem?

Thanks!

Check the DHCP lease.
