But you got it wrong. It's morse for CQ (I seek you). Mind you it and SOS are the only morse I know. It's also the theme for Macquarrie National News (a radio network).

Hi David,

I have seen your name on this newsgroup quite a lot and you have answered
some of my queries.

I didn't realise you were Australian or that the above is Morse for CQ. From
your Web address, it looks like you work at the Sydney Morning Herald.
Macquarie National News used to be on 2GB many years ago. I don't know where
it is now. But I live in Canberra now, not Sydney, where I first tuned to
2GB in the 1950's. Maybe 2CA broadcasts it, but I tend to listen to ABCFM
these days

Ah memories!

I don't work for the SMH. Their is an argument of mine on that page in support of mandatory detention. I reminded them of the reasons why it was introduced - to save refugee's lives. And just because the racists have hijacked it doesn' make the policy wrong - it merely makes the implementation of it wrong (and evil). Administrative detention shouldn't equal torture.

Actually, CQ (All Station call-up) is dah-dit-dah-dit, dah-dah-dit-dah.
