Let me see if I understand things correctly. With DT one can make a
folder a "virtual" drive and then put an .iso in it ? So that things
operate like the files are in a CD drive ? Or do the files need to be
un-isoed ?

In any case, my next question, as everyone has a "C" drive am I right
in saying that the most "drives" DT can create would be 25 ?

yes. no need to unpack.

yes, but who needs so many?

DT will do 4 drives. If you want more the DT technology is in several
commercial packages.

Okay.
yes, but who needs so many?

Well, with drives of 200GB on the market I can see that people could
be able to/want to have dozens of CDs on their HDD. Being able to load
magazine CDs on a computer could be handy. Lastly, not every CD is
using up the full 650MB or so of data.

Thank you for your help. :-)

Only 4 ? Well, that is certainly a major limitation IMO. Thanks for
the info.

Regards, John.

Limitation ? Why would you need more than 4 disk images mounted
simultaneously ?
DT can handle as many images as you want, but can only mount 4 at the same
time.
There are frontends that allow easy mounting either per script or per
hotkeys ( ex FastMount, DaemonScript)

see my reply above.

Why?
What are you planning to do with 25 virtual DVD-Rom Drives?
You do understand that you can easily change the image in the virtual
drive?
I have only ever used 1 virtual drive in Daemon Tools and can´t
really even see the need for more than 1 or 2.

By "change the image" I take it you mean change the directory that one
wants to have as a "virtual drive" ?

I thought that that would get tiresome rather quickly so thought that
having multiple virtual drives, always available (set), would be
quicker/easier.

No, not really. To me Daemon Tools is the virtual drive and the
images I have are virtual CDs.

It takes me 6 mouse clicks to unmount one image, then mount a new
one. So in effect I can change CDs (images) in only 6 mouse clicks.
