Hi,

I'm looking to build a new PC for my parents running Windows 7 Home
Premium 64. It should be able to do a little of everything, but
doesn't need to be optimized for gaming or anything like that.

Here's the plan so far..

Core:
Case - Antec Three Hundred Mini Tower ATX
Pwr - OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W ATX 20/24PIN SLI Ready Modular Cables
135mm Fan Active PFC (OCZ600MXSP)
MB - Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3 ATX AM2+/AM3 AMD770 PCI-E16 2PCI SATA2 RAID
1394 HD Sound GBLAN Motherboard (GA-MA770-UD3)
CPU - AMD Athlon II X4 620 Quad Core Processor Socket AM3 2.6GHZ 2MB
Cache 95W (ADX620WFGIBOX)
Mem - Corsair CMV4GX3M2A1333C9 4GB DDR3 2X2GB DDR3-1333 CL9 Dual
Channel (CMV4GX3M2A1333C9)
HD - Western Digital SE16 500GB SATA2 7200RPM 16MB Cache 8.9MS 3.5IN
NCQ (WD5000AAKS)
DVD - LG GH22NS50 Black 22X SATA (GH22NS50)

Peripherals:
Monitor - Acer X193WB Black 19IN Widescreen LCD Monitor 1440X900
2000:1 5ms VGA (ET.CX3WP.002)
Router - Linksys WRT54G2 Wireless G 54MBPS CABLE/DSL Router 802.11G 4
Port 10/100 (WRT54G2-CA)
Mouse - Logitech Optical Wheel Mouse OEM USB/PS2 Black (830926-0000)
Keyboard - Logitech Classic Keyboard 200 Spill Resistant USB Black
Keyboard (968019-0403)

It's been several years since I built my last PC, so any comments,
ideas or suggestions on changes would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Oops, I posted an old version that was missing the video card.. the
new version has just one change:

Motherboard - ASUS M4A78T-E ATX 790GX Socket AM3 DDR3 2PCI-E16 2PCI-E1
2PCI HDMI Video Sound GBLAN Motherboard (M4A78T-E)

What do your parents do with their current computer?

How many hours a week do each of them spend? What applications do they
use? What is the nature of their connectivity? What percentage of the
time do they spend surfing the web or doing email; what kinds of sites;
how do they handle email and spam? What are their security
vulnerabilities? How do they/you solve that? Are you their support
person and if so how do you provide that support? Have they had any
problems in the past with malware contamination? Have you? Is this new
computer plan related in any way to the 'loss' of their current computer
to malware, or what?
