There are three XP Pro computers on my LAN, with one of
them sharing a broadband Internet connection. One of the
machines uses a D-Link DWL-650 and DWL-1000AP to connect
to the LAN, and that computer lost all LAN connectivity
sometime last evening. The other two computers are still
operating normally, with no loss of network connectivity.
I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the wireless network
hardware numerous times already, but to no avail. I've
never had a problem with the hardware before, and I didn't
change any software settings that may have triggered the
problem (at least not that I'm aware of - all I was doing
was working in Photoshop during the time when the
connection was lost). The wireless access point shows a
link, and furious activity, but the LAN hub doesn't
register any traffic coming from the port the AP is
plugged into. I suspect it's either hardware related, or a
DHCP issue, since the affected machine is showing an IP
address beginning with 169 now, and repeated attempts to
repair the connection have failed. There's nothing of any
help on D-Link's web site, so any insight from people here
would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
