Does anyone with this router experienced lock-out problem? Every now and
then locks-up and i must reset it. And if i go into configuration, and
change anything while router is connected, it locks up, too. And it's bloody
heater, too!!

Second thing is: router is suppose to have firewall. How is this firewall
usefull? i mean if i don't change anything , i mean i don't set any rules,
permitions etc. - does this mean that this firewall doesn't function? I
would like to know this because i have TV via ADSL line (which works great,
by the way!) and TV receiver doesn't work via router (provider said so and
also i've tested - that's because wrong IP is sent via router and i get
access denied), so i must have switch first, from switch goes to TV receiver
and to router, from router to 2 computers. IS this stupid config?

Finally, i still don't quite understand the difference between switch and
hub...
thanks

I haven't seen that problem on my DI-604.

The problem might be that your router is overheating, causing it to
lock up. Make sure that there's good air circulation all around it.

The router's firewall function automatically blocks all connections
from the Internet that your computers didn't explicitly request. You
don't have to do anything to enable the firewall.

I'm sorry, but I don't know how TV via ADSL works. You might need to
open ports in the router's firewall. Check with your ADSL provider.

They both allow multiple devices to network with each other. A switch
is better, because it does these things that a hub can't do:

1. Support full duplex connections, allowing devices to send and
receive data at the same time.

2. Provide its full rated bandwidth to each device. A hub shares the
rated bandwidth between all of the devices.

3. Connect to 10 Mb and 100 Mb devices at the same time. Some hubs
can only use one speed.

I wrote to D-link company when i got it and they said that it gets "pretty"
hot, whatever that means.
But, since it's still under warranty, i'll just send it to repair, since now
i can't configure it at all - i reset it, go into config, set username and
password, click apply and restart---that's it. it shows that "wait a
moment..resetting" message and locks up.

Aha, so, incoming is that of most importance. That figures, since i wondered
because when i just plugged PC and it worked, i thought that this firewall
must be set in some way, since it allows immediate Internet access.

Basic pronciple is simple: I have ADSL modem set wide open at 8Mbits, from
which 7 of it uses TV and 1M i use for the Internet. It works great, i have
110 TV programs available and picture is of DVD quality. but at beginning i
tried to connect it via router and it didn't work, then after i called my
ISP, he told that TV receiver tries to connect with improper IP and i must
have it via switch ...It's just i kinda hate just another box around me...

So, the line goes: hub - the stupidest thing around, then switch in the
middle and finally router, the wisest thing around...
Thanks!
