D:\ is not accessible. Incorrect function.

i am simply attempting to copy files over to a CD-ROM so
i can send some digital photos to family. however, when
i place a blank disc into the CD-ROM drive and try to
drag files over, i get the message listed above. i
thought it should be as simply as dragging and dropping,
but i am apparently mistaken. anyone know what i might
be doing wrong?? thanks for any help - this is driving
me crazy.

XP's internal CD-Writing function does not natively support drag and drop.
It supports a version of disk mastering similar to what you do when creating
an audio CD.

To perform the above function, you need third party software such as the
Drag to Disk component of Easy CD Creator 6, www.roxio.com or the InCD
component of Nero, www.nero.com. These components support packet writing
which implements the function of drag or drop to disk. Please check the
application web sites for versions compatible with XP as well as drive
compatibility.
 
Hi Mike,

In addition to the other replies here, make certain that your
model CD-ROM drive has CD-ROM Burning capabilities.
