d drive

i have an advent 7011 laptop all of a sudden my disc
detector doesnt detect discs and my computer doesnt
recognise that i have a d drive i cant do anything with a
disc when i insert a disc it runs but nothing shows up
can anyone help me please

Disk detector as in, Disk Management?

What is your D drive supposed to point to?

If you're talking about a CD/DVD drive, go to your device manager properties
and see if it shows up in there with/without errors. You may need to get the
latest WinXP driver from the manufacturer and install it...
