d: does not appear in my computer

XP Pro system

I have connected a Dazzle Hi-Speed USB 2.0 card reader to the port and
inserted a digital media card. The drive does not appear in My Computer or
Windows Explorer but from a command line I can connect to d: and
access/modify files via command line without any trouble.

Disk Management sees the device as follows:

CANON_DC (D:) Partition Basic FAT Healthy 30 MB 27 MB 90 % No 0%
Disk 1 Removable 30 MB Online CANON_DC (D:) 30 MB FAT Healthy

Since the drive is obviously there and is working without difficulty, why
does it not appear under My Computer or Windows Explorer?
