Hi All,
In the process (85%) of defragging my HD, system just crashed and all
attempts to repair failed. Currently can't even perform slow format as it
seems to take forever. Several trys with quick format plus reinstalling XP
home edition were successful but constant indication of cyclic redundancy
check and request for check disk whenever attempts to copy files into HD. Can
anyone advise what else I can try to reformat HD (long format) and reinstall
XP to overcome this CRC errors?
Highly appreciate if anyone out there can assist.
Many thanks.

Download the test utility from the hard drive manufacturer and zero the
drive. That will tell you if its faulty or not.

Sounds like the drive glitched during the defrag.

Replace the defective hard drive, and then install WinXP.
