Cyclic Redundancy Check error when deleting file

I have four Word files that I can't delete. When I try to
delete them I get the following error: "Cannot delete
filename.doc: Data Error (Cyclic Redundancy Check)." Does
anyone know what the problem is and how I can delete the
files? Thanks.

This is serious: Your hard disk has developed some
bad clusters. Download and run the diagnostic routine
that your hard disk manufacturer makes available on his
web site. This is an excellent time to review your backup
strategy!
