when i'm backing up dvd's i keep getting the same box appear

cycle redundancy error

wot does this mean?

is there any other way to backup my dvd,
any piece of software anyone could suggest?

many thanks in advance

i am aware backing up DVD's could be seen as copyright, but as i work away a lot of the time, the only reason i back them up is i want to try and preserve the origanals, and avoid damage...i have no interest in selling them, the are for personal use only..

thank you...

Cyclic redundancy error = The file is corrupt

The cyclic redundancy check applies to parts of the data not the whole of the data so in theory a CRC failure means that not all is necessarily lost

(Cyclic Redundancy Checks Errors) are usually a result of poor media or a bad burn.

Try re-imaging and burning.

However ... On the hardware side, the CRC errors I have seen are typically and generally due to failures in: RAM, CPU, or integrated or PCI ethernet cards.

In effect, something is garbling the data from it's source to the destination.

The issue may turn out to be a WinXP problem, but my gut tells me hardware. ;)

thanks for the tip, how do u re-image??

sorry to pester

thanks again
You say you are "backing up" your DVDs ... then the software you are using with create an image first, well it should, and then burn.

As per the rules of the forum I cannot give much more 'help' than that. ;)
