Alot of internet addresses are given in these posts to
help us find info needed to resolve our issues. My
question/problem is that I am unable to cut and paste
these addresses in my IE address bar. This is how I have
been doing it and doesn't work for me; I highlight the
current address showing in the tool bar and then go to
Edit and hit Cut - I then go down and highlight the
address I want to go to and then go back up to the
toolbar and put my cursor in the toolbar and then go to
Edit and click on Paste - the only thing that happens is
that the original address appears back in that space.
What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help - any and
all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

You're kind of doing it backwards.

Highlight and delete the address in your browser's URL address box
Highlight the URL that you want to copy; right-click it and select copy
Place the mouse pointer in your browser's URL address box, right-click,
and select paste.

You are missing a step. When you go to the address you want to paste,
select it and then select Edit, Copy. Then go back to the address bar and
select Edit Paste.

Also, you do not need to "Cut" the existing address at all - you can just
copy and paste the address you want right over what is in the address bar.

Hope this helps!

You should just be able to click on the link in the post
and have it open the site. If not try this, highlight the
link and right click select copy go to IE and click in the
address bar it should highlight the entire URL. Right click
and select paste.

Have you ever loaded an alternate browser? I tried MyIE2 and
when I uninstalled it my file associations weren't returned to
IE. A real PITA. If can't open links directly from e-mails
or NG post your problem probably has to do with file associations. I
can't remember for sure but I think the one you need to check is
Internet Shortcut. Open Explorer (not IE) go to tools > folder options
file types. Look to see what program is associated with Internet
Shortcut. It should be Internet Explorer.

Thank you null for your help - I tried it and it worked
like a charm - sure will make using these posts alot
easier.

Youve got it the wrong way round. Highlight the address
you want to got to (right click & copy) then place the
cursor in the address bar in the title bar and (right
click & paste)

Whew so much confusion for so easy a task. Anonymous almost has it right. The
simplest and most direct method is to place your cursor at either the
beginning or the end of the URL and click and hold the left mouse button down
and drag either to the right or left to highlight the URL. Now simple right
click on it and click copy. Now move your cursor to the open IE address bar
and right click there and then click paste and then click either your go
button or hit enter on you keyboard. That's all folks. {]:~)

Hi Fuzzy,

Better yet, set up your news reader. You will be able to just click a URL to
open it or r-click and send it to favorites to look at later. The news
reader also gives you more convienience in looking up answers to your posts
and marking threads you want to follow, amongst other features. Read up on
the use of news readers and you will see the many advantages over the
web-based newsgroups. BTW, OE has a reader built in to it.

LOL, JAX
