Has anyone found a way to customize Windows Explorer in
the Home Edition of Windows XP. I would like to set it
so that any folder opened would be in the "Details"
view. I would also like to set it so that it always
opened showing my main "C" drive as a start point. If
you offer help please keep the answers detailed and
SIMPLE. Thanks Dan

Hi Dan,

Windows remembers 400 folder settings. When that number is reached some
settings aren't retained any longer. You can change this to 8000 by adding
this edit to the registry.

Run this edit, then reset your preferred folder options:

Increase Folder View Options Limit: (Line 2)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

Windows Explorer/View/[Select Accordingly]. Then Tools/Folder
Options/View/Apply to All Folders.

For Windows Explorer opening to C:\

.
Oped a folder and select Details view. Ensure that the
details you want are displayed by right-clicking the
column header and clearing or setting checkboxes. Click
on tools, folder options and select the view tab then
click the 'apply to all folders' button. Under advanced
options you should also ensure that the 'remember each
folders view settings' option is checked.
