Customizing Windows Explorer in XP

I want to have XP professional windows explorer open by
default with my computer highlighted rather than My
Documents. In an educational network situation such as
we have this would allow the user to immediately see all
available network drives. Thanks

How to Have Windows Explorer Default to the %SystemRoot% Drive When Started

Create or modify your existing shorcut to read:

%systemroot%\explorer.exe /e,/root,

This will cause Windows Explorer to open to the drive that XP is installed
on.

Brad,

MVP David Bartosik has a page explaining this process. Note that besides
the shortcut method, you can also press the Windows key and E and it will
automatically open with My Computer highlighted.
