Customizing the window that shows my saved files

IN XP, when I bring up a window in order to look through
my saved files, how can I make the default be the detail
view, as opposed to the thumbnail view?

Also, when I do view my saved files in detail view, the
various columns (file name, file type, file size and date
saved) are too far apart from each other. The way the
window normally appears, the column displaying the dates
is too far to the right and does not even appear in the
window unless I scroll over to the right. I would like
the left-to-right columns to overlap (or else I would
like to determine the order in which they appear left to
right), because the most important sections to me are the
file names and the dates I saved them.

Please e-mail me at (e-mail address removed)

Thanks,
Judy

Just change the various column widths with your mouse. Put your mouse where
the name and size column meet and when it changes to <--> drag the column to
whatever size you want.

Hi Judy,

If you are speaking of Save As, there isn't a way to save a default view as
of yet.

Kelly,

When you simply open up Windows Explorer is there a way
for the default view be 'details'? My group works with a
lot of different file types and it's usually valuable to
know the additional information available for each file
listed. Since we switched to XP a few weeks back it has
been a major pain to constantly have to click on VIEW
then DETAILS each time one of my people opens up a
folder.
