Friends,

(The notification area is the differently colored area to
the right of the taskbar, down at the bottom of the
screen.)

1. I want the date to appear as well as the time.
Please advise if you know how: (e-mail address removed)

2. I want to eliminate all the other buttons - I find
them distracting and superfluous.
Please advise if you know how: (e-mail address removed)

Thanks in advance,

Dominick Antonucci

HI

1. Hover your pointer.
2. Look in the 'options' for the appropriate program to disable the notifification icon.

Hi Dominick,

1. To display the date, first unlock the taskbar. To do this right click on
the taskbar and remove the check (if any) next to lock taskbar. Next, put
your mouse over the area where the taskbar and desktop meet and drag the
taskbar up until the date shows.

2. Right-click on the start menu and click on properties. Put a check next
to hide inactive icons, and click on customize. For each program, click on
the words"hide when inactive" under behavior, and a menu will appear. Chose
Always Hide from the menu.
