My database is based on an Access template. I have
modified all the built-in reports to better suit my
company's needs. However, each time I do a compact &
repair it resets all but one of the forms to their
original state. What is causing this?

Forms or Reports? What do you mean by "to their original state"? If these
are reports, are you using Access 2000? Have you searched google on Access
2000 report margins?

If this is something else, let us know.

I'm sorry, I guess I should have been more specific. The
database is based on an Access template. I changed the
layout and some of the names of the controls. When I save
the database, it saves the forms with my changes. But
when I compact, it returns them back to the way they were
before I made the changes.

I am just now running some trial data and, if that proves
successful, plan to launch my database tomorrow.
Obviously I want to compact it first, but I don't want to
have to modify the reports all over again.

Again you refer to both Forms and Reports. You didn't answer what
specfically changes in the forms or reports. Also, you didn't answer my
question if this was Access 2000.

If you come here with a question, please do us the courtesy of responding
with answers to the specific questions in our replies.

This is my first experience with Access, and I am still
getting used to the terminology. I am talking about
reports. When I said forms, I meant to say reports.

I am using Access 2000. I have not checked Google, but I
will. However, I don't think it's a margins issue. My
reports run and print out beautifully with the
modifications. It's just that they keep losing those
modifications.

One of my backup copies saved the reports with the
modifications, so last night I copied them over to
my "working copy" of the database. This morning they have
once again "reset" themselves to the design that was in
the original template.

Thanks for providing your Access version and specific issue. A search of
Google or this news group should bring up the solution which is:
-Select Tools|Options and uncheck all Name Autocorrect boxes
or better
-Install the latest service packs for Office 2000

Thanks! I'll try both of those.
