Is there any way of adding or deleting items on the
shortcut menu that pops up when one right clicks the
taskbar start button?

Norwin,

You may add to this registry key:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell]
Create a sub-key with the command name and with proper parametrs in another subkey.

Or, use FileTypes dialog to create new commands. Using the FileTypes dialog causes Search companion to launch when you double-click a directory. To solve that, type "regsvr32 /i shell32" once you've done with FileTypes modifications.

Thanks for the help. I have 3 books, Windows XP secrets,
Windows xp inside out, and running windows XP. All are
lousy. Any suggestions of a reference book for these
kinds of things?

See below a book from Jerry Honeycutt, another good one. You can see the sample chapters of this book in MS Press site.

Thanks much Ramesh!
I did find a similar solution in Windows ME Secrets. That
and Windows 95 Secrets are much better than Windows XP
secrets which is by a different author.
