Customizing Notifications in task bar

in the past items area none of the icons line up with the
right name of the objects they should be with ex. it says
quick time but there is a norton anitvirus icon for
it...i would like to know if there is a way to reset
these or just to simply clear out all the past items

i see what it says...sounds simple to do but i also see
the warning...if i follow what it says to do then i
should not be using the registry editor incorrectly
right? and nothing should have to reinstall my operating
system?

Not a problem. If you are not comfortable manually editing the registry, MVP
Kelly has a small VBS script that will do this automagically. Go to her
website at the following address and scroll down to Line 53, left side.
Click the "Remove past items from the notification area" link to download
the file. Double click to run.
