I am trying to set up my desktop using a picture my
daughter gave me in *.bmp format. The COLOR of the icon
labels are too light and difficult to see against THIS
background I want to use. In DISPLAY, under APPEARANCE,
selecting ADVANCED, I chose ICON: I can specify a font and
its size for the desktop icon labels; BUT NOT ITS COLOR
(the selection is grayed out). Is there a solution for
this problem?

Thank you.

Hi Josephine,

By default in XP, it can't be manually changed. The text changes on its own
from dark to light depending on the color of the background. It is based on
the Desktop color not the Wallpaper. The combo is whether or not you are
using a Wallpaper and what the Desktop color is.

You have the old "mspaint" program on your computer. Make a copy of the
picture first and then read it in mspaint. You should be able to do what you
want in this.
