Customized sort columns in Windows Explorer

Please help. I am trying to sort files in Explorer in a
meaningful way with no luck. Alfabetical sorting of the
files is meaningless to me. Sorting by Modified date
works better, but a significant portion of the files have
modified dates that make no sense. What I would like is
either a custom column of file information or the ability
to manually edit some field, preferably create date, so
that I can sort files.

NB: I am mostly dealing with scanned documents with
internal dates that do not always match the scan date.
For example a scanned letter with an internal date of
June 3 might be scanned on June 6. I want it to sort
before June 4 and after June 2 (not to mention that
Create date seems to change if I move the file to a new
folder!!?)

Any suggestions?

This cannot be done. The available columns are hard-coded in.
