I used to have the regular internet explorer.
I downloaded a customized version from a college.
I don't want the customized version anymore.
How can I get rid of it and get regular internet explorer?
Thank you.

Hi Mary,

To remove the browser customizations:

Click Start | Run | and type the following commands one by one: and press
Enter

"Rundll32 IedkCS32.dll,BrandCleanInstallStubs"
"Rundll32 IedkCS32.dll, Clear"

Both commands does the same almost. The first one also resets "Windows
Update Menu Text" in IE.

-Did you completely erase your original IE version off of
your computer? If not, it's still there. You just need
to delete the custom version. If you did delete it or it
was overwritten, I would suggest that you look through any
original computer cd's that came with your computer. Many
of them carry a version of IE. My modem software has a
version on it- many games do too. Just load the cd, and
check it's contents. A lot of cd's have extra stuff on
them in a folder called 'extra stuff" that a lot of people
do't realize is even there. Especially if "autorun"
invokes....it skips letting you actually look at the files
and foleders on the disc. Also, if you have a system
backup on disks (could you be lucky enough?) also, if you
have a "restore" disk, like an emergency disk that came
with your computer. It can put some or all of your
computer back to factory condidion....be careful and get
help if you aren't familiar with the way they work. They
can be a lifesaver though! Lisa->

Erasing and reinstalling won't fix it because that won't change the Registry
settings.
