I want to have an other boot option that are self-customized for my needs.
I'm working with my notebook, and when I'm on "out the field" I'm using only
1 program. I want an boot option that says to the operationg system: load
these selected drivers and services, but not the ones these others that I
don't need. I can shut down services manually but It's irritating doing that
every day. Since my program on the field might get overloaded I want to be
assured that it doesn't crash cause of to little system resources and memory.
Yes, I wan't an boot option so when I use the program I don't want it to
crash. Simple as my demand seems, the harder is there to find the information
or HOWTO's that can answer my question.
Shortly, HELP ME PLEASE! :|
I am also aware of the fact that I gotta know what I'm doing...

regards,
Johan, Mobile DJ in Sweden (yes, I'm a deejay and the program I speak of is
virtual dj @ virtualdj.com. I don't want it to crash during a live set, the
crowd's gettin all wanky then).

Resources are not a concern in XP as they were with the 9x versions.
Drivers that aren't needed in the field won't load so you should get
results focusing on startup programs only. Hardware profiles won't help
since this relates only to devices - not services and programs that run at
startup.

Hmmm... One way you might be able to manage this would be to disable all
startup items and unwanted services on a system wide basis. Then in the
account that you use at home, add shortcuts for programs to the startup
folder. Use a script to start wanted services (not a scripting expert but
know this is possible).

Next, create a field account and leave the startup folder empty and skip
the service script.
