Hello Everyone

Is there any way I could customize the user environment per user. I mean
for certain users, I don't want the run command, search command and others.
I remember we used to do this kind of thing using System Policy Editor in
Window NT 4.0.

Long time back I did this with Group Policy Object editor but I can't
remember now and almost spent a whole day searching for this and still no
idea.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Hi,

Group Policies are definitely how you do this with Windows 2000/03
Domains. You must have an Active Directory Windows 2000/03 Domain
setup though. (No NT PDC’s and no Workgroup).

Open Active Directory Users and Computers.
Create an OU
create a test user and put in that OU
Right Click OU - Properties
Choose "Group Policy"
Create New Group Policy
Edit Group Policy
Go under "User Configuration" and "Administrative Templates"
There you will see settings similar to the System Policy days.

Clients must be Windows 2000 and higher.

Cheers,

Lara
