I want to be able to have all my system and program files
in 'List' view, but My Pictures in 'thumbnails', and when
I try to set the properties to filter to all nested
folders it doesn't work. How can I do this easily,
without having to open every single folder, and
subfolder, to change the view??

I don't think there is a way to accomplish this automagically if your wanting to set different views for particular folders. You just need to make sure that the Folder Options ( Tools/Folder Options: Remember each folders view settings ) have the proper settings to retain the different customizations for each folder. Don't make it a chore, simply set each folders view the next time you open that folder. :)
