Customising desktop

Is it possible to have a sequential set of photos (eg a range of equipment)
or is it only possible to have one and change it every few days. The PC in
question runs XP Pro SP2.
 
Are you referring to a screensaver?

Control Panel > Display > Screensaver > My Pictures Slideshow

Are you referring to desktop wallpaper? You'll need a third party
application for that.
