Out of hundreds of customers, I have one who cannot connect to his Access database using our software. I have a test connection button which simply open a new OleDb connection and closes it. It fails and I can't get the exact error message from him as he mistyped a lot (I obviously need some logging functions), but here is what he sent
Error (HYOOO)(Microsoft)(ODE mICROSOFT aCCESS dRIVER
cOULD NOT USE '(UNKNOW)'; file area

It looks like an ODBC or OLEDB error and it must say file already exists. I have seen some people referring to this error, but they have said that their connection strings are just wrong. This guy claims that he is an admin on his machine. I have test our software on his exact platform (WinXP Pro, all latest patches, MDAC 2.8, Access 2000)

Has anyone ever seen this? Thanks.

Make sure he ODBC 4.0 or greater, that the permissions are set correctly on
the server (I know, he's an admin but I've seeen this a few different times
and it's always one of those two or) and verify the MDAC's. I can't
absolutely guarantee that it's one of these and I know you've covered each
of them but I'm pretty sure he's missing something
