Hi All,

Is there any custom notification system available in ASP.Net or some sort of
API? I don't want to use SQL Server Notification service it is so
complicated and also i don't want to write my own service because i don't
have time to development and testing.

Actually right now i have two types of notification
1. My Reminder (By Email / Pager)
2. Email To Friend

1. My Reminder:
User can set reminder on a particular datetime that he/she specify and
he/she will get notify by email/pager when the program (Video) in on air.

2. Email To Friend: If user wants to send the link of any program than the
user will be notify by email.

I want every email message customizable by using templates.

Please suggest if this type of custom notifcation system is available in the
market or i have to write my own?

Regards
Adi

Hi Adeel,

As for notification system, so far the built-in one provided by ASP.NET or
NET 2.0 is the Sql data cache dependecy which can automatically notify the
client of any change at database side. It does not rely on SQL Notification
service, but does require the "service broker" at SQL server side.

If you want to build some event or notification like function in your
ASP.NET application, maybe you can have alook at background tasking which
can be done via some worker threads running in the background of ASP.NET
web application.

Here are some web articles discussing on this:
