Custom FTP Client Vs Windows XP Firewall (SP2) - SIGEM app

We have a custom FTP client app (made by a customer) used to Upload docs.

Insted a standard FTP is used a home-made FTP client because the app
generates a "receipt" fo the uploaded docs.

We have several problems using this particular software and only if we
disable XP Firewall the app works well. In the Vista OS works fine.

The Firewall admin captures some traffic and observed a lot of packets with
less than 4 KB with XP firewall enalbled and with Firewall disabled the size
of the packets are bigger and the performance of the app really improves.

The app cannont be "re-written", and i can´t change my Personal Firewall, so
i´m thinking if i can change some parameter os the OS to make the FTP upload
work well with the XP Firewall enabled. Even modifyinf TCP/IP parameters,
they can be changed with Firewall enabled?

As a further test you could try installing Filezilla client which has a
built in connection test (Network Connection Wizard). Windows XP SP2/SP3
firewall may impede FTP connectivity. Why don't you try another firewall
program if you cannot simply disable Windows firewall?
