Custom format for a form

I have a form where I want to display a text field in my form with dashes
(eg. xx-xx-xx-xxxx-xxx-xxx), but I want it to go into my table without the
dashes (eg xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx). Is there a way to do this? I have looked
under format as suggested in help, but there is no way to make a custom
format that I could find.

Any help is greatly appreciated,

I tried that, but it put the dashes in my table. I want to view the form
with the dashes, but I don't want them included in that field of my table.
Maybe I'm missing something here.

If you check the help file topic for input masks you will see that there is a
character in the string that controls whether the mask characters are stored in
the table or not.
