Custom Form Couldn't Open

Good Morning,

I have a WinXP desktop and recently upgraded from Office XP to Office 2003.
This new version of Outlook is ok with the new looks and features, but there
seems to be quite a few bugs in it.

We're using public folders. I had some custom forms I believe I design them
in Outlook 2000.
They are forms for appt/journal/tasks for saving the data in a public folder
instead of the default personal folders. I did NOT make a custom form for
email, that's fine.

Anyway, I have a major problem. With the user not doing anything, just
cursor resting on an email in the inbox, the user keeps getting something
like:

"Outlook couldn't open custom form....the default form will be used." You
click ok and then a few seconds later it'll pop up again. I've notice it
anywhere in outlook, you can be resting on a contact, without opening the
contact to view it or anything, Outlook will pop up with the message. You
click ok, then sometimes a few seconds later it will pop up again.

This is annoying. I don't know what it is. Why is it trying to open forms
when the user isn't doing anything? It does it mostly while in the inbox.
Can anyone help? Is there a way to turn this pop up box off from the
registry. It keeps popping up and WON'T stop. I've tried resetting but still
that doesn't solve the problem.

Thanks for your help!

This might occur if you are using a view with in-cell editing turned on.

Good Afternoon Sue,

How are you? I'm blessed. Thanks for the response.
I checked the view and in-cell editing is turned off.

Is there a way to turn this error message pop up off? It keeps popping up,
out of no where.
Here is the exact error message:

The custom form could not be opened. Outlook will use an Outlook form
instead. The form required to view this message cannot be displayed.
Contact your administrator.

I'm noticing it happens more on email. The cursor will just be resting on an
email and then the error pops up. It happens on almost all new email, but it
does it also on older ones after a while. Running the inbox in preview mode,
with the reading pane to the right.
Thanks again for your help. This is on my bosses computer, if I can't get
this thing to stop I'll have to switch him back to office xp. He does like
the new version, but not these popups though!(smile)

Thanks for the additional information that this was happening on messages
and you were using the reading pane.

Try clearing the forms cache: Choose Tools | Options | Other | Advanced
Options | Custom Forms, then click Manage Forms, then Clear Cache.
