Custom DPI w/ Vuescan

Vuescan documentation says that if I scan using a Custom dpi
Vuescan will scan at the higher DPI and convert to the desired
dpi.

Does anyone have any experience with Vuescan in this mode
and how well does it process compared to Photoshop?

VueScan uses a relatively straightforward interpolation method, somewhat
similar to bi-linear in Photoshop. For many images it is good enough, but if
you want only the best, then use dedicated resampling techniques depending
on image content.
