Custom autonumber using date and sequential numbering

I am trying to create a table that uses the current year
plus a sequential number example (2004001, 2004002, etc.)
Then next year I would like the number to reflect the
current year and start the sequence over again. I tried to
enter yyyy000 into the format field, but had no success.

I am using Access 2003.

Don't. Use two fields (remember first day class on First Normal Form), and
just display them as a single number of forms and reports.
