Custom Animation Preview problem

In PP2007, with the AutoPreview checked, I do not see a preview of any
custom animations on objects or text. The slide will "flash" and everything
shows together at once. Custom animations do work when the slideshow is
presented.

Can I fix this glitch?

Hi GaryE

Are they appear animations & are they set to come in on click? When you
preview animations powerpoint does the clicking for you so if you have
things set to appear on click the behaviour you describe would be expected.
Does that make sense?

Lucy

Yes, I understand. No, these are set up as "with previous" or "after
previous." It doesn't matter which effect I choose either. The slide simply
flashes on the screen and no animation occurs.

Eeek! Just found I'm having the same issue. But only on 1 computer - running
XP and 2007 with SP1. Not happeneing on Vista with 2007 & SP1. What OS are
you using?

Lucy

I'm using Vista on a Gateway laptop, and I have Office 2007 w/SP1. I have
the current hardware drivers.

Ok, this is just getting plain weird! I cannot recreate on a Vista box but I
can on my XP machine. Same file behaves differently on the 2 machines. Do
you have any add-ins installed?

Lucy

No. I also use Powerpoint on a Vista desktop and a XP machine, on both of
these the preview works fine. It does't make any sense.

Too right it doesn't make any sense - don't you just love computers? ;-) Can
you think of any differences between your 2 computers that work & the one
that doesn't? Have you installed anything recently? Have you run diagnostics
(I just did & it found one problem though when I clicked on details there
didn't appear to be any problems. And it didn't fix it anyway...).

I'll keep thinking & let you know if I come up with anything.

Lucy

Lucy, thanks for your help and suggestions. I'll check to see if there are
any differences but right now I don't know of any.

As a side note: I've noted your location. I'm in Florida, but I have a son
who lives in Sydney.

Hi GaryE

Finally Glenna Shaw opened my eyes - untick the 'use hardware graphics
acceleration' in the set up show dialogue box.

Hope it works for you too - I'm one happy camper right now :-)

Lucy

Hi Lucy:

Thanks for your tenacity! I had given up on this. That simple "click" made
the difference. It works!!! Thanks again. Keep up the good work.

No worries :-) I'm a bit shame faced I didn't think of it myself and a whole
lot earlier ;-)
