Custom Animation Option Missing

For some reason the custon animation option on my
student's Task Pane is missing. When he right clicks the
object he gets the option on the popup menu, but then it
opens in a new window, not on the task pane.

Any ideas how to fix this? It is my understanding that
the Task Pane is not editable without develing into the
code

If you are using PowerPoint 2002, but have the new options disabled, then
the animation pane will show up as a window similar to PowerPoint 2000's
version.

Check the options selected.
