Custom animation direction

In the old version of PP-- you could choose (for example) wedge and then
choose whether this "wedged" from the top, bottom, left, right, or center.

Can this still be done? I don't see this option!
 
Are you sure Wedge had a direction?

I don't see it on ppt 2003 or 2007

Like TAJ I'm pretty sure this was never a feature

You can (if you're willing to get complex) make it do it

eg Rotate the shape 90 deg right

apply with previous Disappear and spin 90 left followed by the on click wedge.
