Cursor continually flashes

Sometimes my arrow cursor starts to flash so badly that I
cannot even locate it on a web page. It only happens when
using internet explorer - it is still functional but only
when I can find out where it is and even then it is not
that responsive to the nipple on the IBM thinkpad that I
use.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
 
Can you associate anything with when this started happening? Updates for
example? Installation of some software?

Reduce hardware acceleration. That generally fixes cursor problems.
