cursor arrows speed

while playing games on my pc the cursor arrows move in big
steps. how can i slow them down to use for aiming purposes?
This only happens since i reinstalled windows XP-Home
upgrade. before that the arrows worked fine. How can I
change the speed of the arrows per press?
 
Control your cursor by going to Start - Control Panel -
Printers/hardware - Mouse & pointer options.
