curser stuck

on all my Excel spreadsheets, when I go to move the
curser it seems to have locked into a scrolling thing and
won't move. It acts like it is setting a field, and on
the lower right a sum= box changes with the size of the
field.

What did I do and how do I fix it, please.
 
don't see other indicators on the Status bar except sum=
and then the total of all the numbers in the field that
the curser is definining as you move it about the sheet.
I tried using tools-edit-and then uncheck the drop and
drag box, and that frees up the cell for one move, but as
soon as I land on another cell the problem repeats itself.

Do you see any other indicators on the Status bar such as
"EXT" or "ADD". If you see "EXT" click F8 once, if "ADD" click F8 twice.
