currently use outlook express for EMail. will not let me change

currently use outlook express as my default provider(via LAN). I have outlook
2003 and want to change provider to office outlook but when i follow
instructions by going to tools/options,then other,I then select general and
choose outlook as default office outlook will not allow the default to be
accepted.I still have to use outlook express which i prefer not to use.any
help appreciated

What "instructions" are those, and where exactly IS this
"tools-Options-Other"? I've never set a default email client by going to any
"tools-options-other"...

Tools>Options>Other>Make Outlook the default program...
