Curious photo display difference

I just got a picture sent to me that is displayed in one way when I open
it,
but when I
saved it to a folder the picture has far more detail showing in the
thumbnail than what appears when you use a viewer It appears as though the
picture was cropped at the lower end
and when I open the folder I see the whole picture as a thumbnail but when
I double click
on it I only see a partial of what appears to be the original. Can anyone
tell me what has happened? Can I actually get an original view after a pic
is cropped but just can't display it ? This is from an e-mail of a
Jpeg..and I have tried using various programs to view the picture. I sent
the picture to my self and got the same issue to occur.

Ask the sender if the image looks that
way on their computer. Ask them to send
you another copy.

I have to ask if you've tried scrolling the picture? Maybe its native
resolution is just too large for your screen when displayed at 100%.
