I have WinXP. I was trying to install a boot manager and got a message saying:

"W002: CHS values from partition tables and effective values do not agree."

Anyone know what this means? The computer seems to run OK.

Thanks in advance.

It's being generated by the boot manager, you need to read its documentation
or contact tech support for the application.

CHS= Cylinders, Heads and Sectors
In the "days of yore" -before system boards could auto-detect drives- you
entered CHS values in your BIOS setup screens to give the system needed
information to utilize the hard drive.

Google finds the following:

It would be a good idea to check the tech support pages for the program and
see what they have to say about the error message. There probably isn't
anything seriously wrong since the system is still booting and running. If
this info was totally off, the system wouldn't run at all. On the other
hand, finding out what the program's tech support has to say would give you
some extra peace of mind.

Sharon and Michael. Appreciate the response but I did read the documentation
before I posted my enquiry. However, the focs are mute on the subject.

Yes but the problem is in whatever it is the application is unable to read.
the problem is on the application side. You need their tech support in
order to figure out why its generating this error and what to do about it.
