Cumulative Upgrade from 5.00

I have a laptop with IE 5.00 that I recently upgraded the
OS from Win98 to Win2k.

I can quickly and easily get to some sites (yahoo.com,
google, com etc) BUT some sites are impossible (ibm, com,
microsoft,com and EMAIL under yahoo.com).

I wanted to upgrade IE to the highest I could in a single
cumulative upgrade.

I can get the upgrade on another computer, write it to CD
and then upgrade from there since I cannot get to
microsoft.com.

Would someone point me to a downloadable, CDable file
that I can pick up and upgrade to a more current version?

Or maybe someone has experienced this problem themselves
and can give me some insight?
I'm going to try reregistering the DLL's as outlined in
281679 in the meantime.

TIA

IE6-SP1 is included on the free Windows Security Update CD:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=836570

Or you can...

Download Drivers and Updates from Windows Update Catalog
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;323166

Either way, the Win2K machine will still have to be taken to Windows Update
to identify (at least) additional updates that the specific machine will
need.
